With
the rise of mobile penetration in the country, the rise of mobile internet is
on the exponential rise. The presence of 4G services by Airtel, National
optical Fiber Network (NOFN) and the much awaited big bang launch of Reliance
Jio, in the last month of the year, shall act as a catalyst for the higher
penetration of internet .
As
per IAMAI-KPMG reports, around 501 million people in India shall have access to
internet by 2017. The rise of internet shall enable many sectors in the path of
growth. One such sector is e-Commerce or ‘m-Commerce’. Barring travel, tourism
and leisure division, the e-tailing wing of e-Commerce is all set to capture
greater market share.
Companies, like
Flipkart, Snapdeal, Amazon and Paytm,
with big muscle power are fighting one another to gain maximum market share.
Flipkart, with first mover advantage and great customer service, enjoys highest
market share of 44%. But the recent rise of Paytm, with the backing of Alibaba, is all set to the
challenge the market leader for top position.
Paytm started
as a payment gateway facilitating mobile recharge has risen to become a zero
commission marketplace for multitude of products. It has been able to create a
unique concept of CASHBACK. In this concept, the customer pays the entire amount
of the product and then the cashback amount is credited to the account of the
customer within 24 hrs. or on the date of shipment of the product. The striking
feature is that the cashback amount can be used across the platform which uses Paytm as
one of the payment options.
Paytm has
been very successful in creating an ecosystem where its users can avail the use
of cashback money. The cashback money can be used to
